Our Story

Yes Kosher Friendship emerged in December 2021, spurred by a poignant motivation: to address the profound isolation exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly among singles. The initiative took root when a bereaved woman, grappling with the loss of a family member sought to commemorate his memory through proactive measures. It operates as a non-profit endeavor with a dual mission: to nourish both the body and the soul. While addressing immediate physical needs through food assistance, it equally emphasizes the provision of Jewish heritage education—an invaluable enrichment for those yearning for spiritual sustenance. It serves as a beacon of hope, offering a holistic support system. The success and impact of Yes Kosher Friendship are intrinsically tied to the generosity of its supporters and the collaborative efforts of its partners. It is through their unwavering commitment and collective endeavor that the organization thrives, forging pathways toward a brighter, more inclusive world. Yes Kosher Friendship continues to illuminate the path toward healing, renewal, and shared humanity.

Mission:

Yes Kosher Friendship is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating isolation, poverty, and food insecurity, with a focus on supporting individuals in need.

Vision:

Our mandate extends beyond local borders, with organized mission trips to conflict zones where we provide humanitarian aid, promote healing, and encourage dialogue to help bridge divides. However, we prioritize a Canada-first approach, ensuring that the needs of our local communities are always met first and foremost.

Purpose:

Our mission is grounded in the principles of compassion, inclusivity, and empowerment. We provide essential services, including food assistance, Kosher culinary workshops, and educational workshops on Kosher living and "Kosher by design" principles. We strive to foster an environment where individuals can engage in learning, connection, and growth.

Need:

Through partnerships with other community organizations, businesses, and service providers, we ensure access to resources that support both immediate and long-term well-being. As part of our commitment to transparency and sustainability, we conduct an annual raffle to generate funds to sustain our programming and support our ongoing work. Yes Kosher Friendship is steadfast in its commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities by nurturing both physical and emotional well-being. We are dedicated to creating a compassionate and empowering space where individuals in need can find support, connection, and opportunity.
